Keith Salt’s 2003 Bonneville T100 Custom

I do love to modify motorcycles, when I’m not writing about modifying, or looking at parts used to modify, I’m planning to modify. This is the curse of being a petrol head, and I say petrol head, as to be honest I love anything with an engine. Unfortunately my shed is to small for the Blenheim Bomber project I had my eye on. The bonus of loving motorcycles is meeting other like minded individuals, such as  Keith Salt, who I spoke to at Triumph Live. Its great to chat with others who to love to modify the Triumph Twin as much as I do. Which was something I was fortunate enough to do over that weekend.

Keith’s own bike, which is based on a 2003 Bonneville T100 is a great example of what can be done by the home builder. Keith’s has modified the frame, removing the all unnecessary brackets including pillion mounts, and adding a rear loop. The stock air box has been removed, and an under seat compartment and mudguard eliminator has been fabricated, which now houses the battery and electrics.

Hubs have been powder coated, with the stock rims being replaced by lightweight Morad items, and shod with Continental TK80’s. Keith has also replaced the speedo and front & rear lights. As well as fitting classic MX handlebars, and changing the throttle control , grips and switches.

The exhaust uses part of the increasingly popular  TEC 2 into 1 system, with a custom end-can. The Tank has been painted in a classic two tone with an old style rack (bolted not suckers ) and finished off with mouthorgan Tank badges. The seat is the British Customs ‘slammer’

If you have ever serviced the rear brake, you will know just what a pain it can be with everything seizing up, with the end result of worn out pads and disc. To Combat this Keith has fitted a relocation bracket which brings the rear calliper from below the swing arm to the top out of harms way.

Overall a great looking build and is a credit to Keith.
