Mule update – Catalina Scrambler [EXCLUSIVE…perhaps]

Back in March I posted on Bonnefication some ramblings regarding the British motorycle display team The White Helmets need for an updated Triumph Twin. In that post I suggested Richard Pollock of MuleMotorcycles should produce a lighter frame which the team could use. Unknow to me Richard was already looking at producing such a bike, which was more inkeeping with the original and here it is….“The bike will be marketed by www.triumphcatalina.com (not working yet, so stay tuned) with a website currently in work. The intent being to build a more lightweight, correctly styled Scrambler reminiscent of the 60’s Triumph desert sleds. Most offerings thus far have been kinda fat looking based on the stock Scrambler which is kinda fat looking. The originals were very thin and light appearing so that’s the goal here”.

What was changed? Wheels have drum brakes, BMW front and XS650 rear with Sun rims, (custom made) aluminum tank, seat, fenders, rear frame section was modified, stainless pipes, K&N filters which will actually be increased in size, CZ handlebars, YZ490 Yamaha controls, small electronic speedo unit, tail light, tubular side stand as opposed to the 12lb solid steel stock unit, Racetech shocks, upgraded ignition unit and aluminum skid-plate.Looks good to me!… though those drum brakes raise an eyebrow!
