Paris in April played host to some pretty spectacular custom motorcycles. Two outstanding builds, where the Bonneville Alliance, a Triumph Twin side-car combination by Lyon based BAAK Motocyclettes, and the Triumph Sunrising, by Sébastien Guillemot and Mathieu Ménard of the Poitiers based FCR Original. Both Machines are based on 2015 Triumph Bonneville’s, though taking different routes when creating the perfect custom Triumph Twin. The Sunrising by FCR Original, features a stunning and eye-catching nickel plated frame, which like many custom Hinckley Twins has been chopped, looped. relieved of its passenger peg mounts and fitted with a bobbed aluminium mudguard and LED taillight.Under a seat crafted by Pascal Proust, is a battery box fabricated and finished in raw aluminium. The new box not only contains the battery, but also the relocated electrics and ignition switch. The raw metal theme continues throughout the Bonneville, including alloy velocity stacks and polished forks, mounted to the Triumph by a set of CNC’d aluminium tripled clamps. To which is secured a bottom mounted bates style headlight with stainless steel mounting brackets – the rectifier, which normally calls this location home, being moved to under the frame.
Wide sweptback handlebars sport a plethora of Kustom-Tech accessories including; Deluxe micro switches, a raw finish clutch lever and matching brake master cylinder assembly, as well as a Kustom-Tech raw throttle body with brass detailing.
Detailing extending to a Motogadget MST vintage speedo, foot-pegs, shifter pedal and relocated turn-signals, with the brass accents contrasting against the raw steel and aluminium, creating interesting and eye catching detail.
The tank is finished in a classic two tone layout, painted in a refreshingly bright sky blue over white, separated by silver coach-lines – a blue which takes us back to the bars, fitted with matching sky blue Lucus grips. The rear shocks are now Matris units, dropping the Bonneville’s back-end onto a heavily shouldered 18 inch, model H Ceriani wheel, wrapped in classic Firestone Black Deluxe Tires. With the front-end being dropped through the yokes onto a matching 19.Freeing the Bonneville of its asthmatic breathing is a custom FCR 2>2 exhausts system, with removable baffles, which give this Twin a little Triumph TT styling.
